I had big plans for a post marking the day we brought Kynlie home from the hospital on January 26, I was busy during the day with the babies, then got the flu that night and spent most of the night hovering the toilet. Needles to say, I didn't get the post wrote! I feel bad about it as it was such a huge day in our life.
Thursday morning, I called my mom to see if she could come get Kynlie out of bed and feed her breakfast for me because if I stood up, I felt like I was going to puke. She came over to help, then went back to work until lunch. I got Kynlie down for a nap, mom came over and fed her lunch when she woke up and I was starting to get body aches. Mom thought I better make a doctor appointment to see if it was influenza. She went back to work until my appointment and thankfully Kynlie is such a good kid because she crawled around and played all afternoon while I slept on the couch. I would pry my eyes open every once in a while to make sure she was ok, then have to close them again because they hurt when they were open. I went in and the doctor said I had the flu and hopefully it was just a 24 hour bug, my blood pressure was 85/56, my blood pressure is usually really low, but never that low. He said I was very dehydrated and he could either send me home and I needed to drink 4 oz of fluids every 15 minutes or he could admit me to the ER and give me 2 liters of IV fluids and I would probably feel much better a lot faster. I opted for the IV fluids. I called Neil after they got my IV started on the third try because I they couldn't find any veins, to let  him know where I was because he was on his way home from work to go to Cooke City to go snowmobiling for the weekend. He stopped to tell me by and he did ask if I wanted him to stay because he felt bad leaving me in that condition. I told him to go as I was already starting to feel better. By time I got out of the ER, I felt like a brand new person. I got home and my mom and dad helped me get Kynlie to bed so I could rest a little more. My mom said she was feeling bad that I was at the hospital by myself the whole time, but I was enjoying it because I just slept the whole time, only being disturbed when the nurses came in to check the IV fluids.
I had planned on going to Bozeman for the weekend to see my sister and her family and watch the Cat/Griz basketball game with Jen and Pyper, and was pretty disappointed when I got sick that I wasn't going to be able to go. I woke up Friday feeling completely healthy and decided that we might as well go so I called Jen at work and we were off to Bozo at noon! The babies traveled great, with maybe 30 minutes of fussing out of both babies the WHOLE TRIP. I couldn't believe it, it was amazing after our last few trips with Kynlie screaming so bad that she makes herself puke! The Cats lost the game but it was fun to watch. We drove home on not great roads last night and I was kind of kicking myself that we didn't get on the road earlier, but we made it safely.
Kynlie is still doing great after her surgery for her tubes last Tuesday. She has started doing something really cute and sweet last week also, she'll take a mouth full of food or whatever she is drinking, then spit it out all over. It's disgusting and it drives me nuts, but I am torn with what to do to try to get her to quit. She needs to eat and drink everything she will so I don't want to stop feeding her when she does it because she'll eat a ton after she does it. She also needs to drink as much as she will  so I just tell her "NO, that it naughty" then put the sippie cup back in her mouth.

Getting ready to leave the NICU January 26, 2010.

Look how far she has came in a year.

Where's your tongue?

So big!! Thanks for the strawberry outfit Grandma and Grandpa!!
We have a week at home, then we are off to the Black Hills for the Stock Show and to see some great friends for the weekend, then to Dickinson and Bismarck for Kynlie's appointments next week. I can't believe January is almost over and it is getting closer to our trip to Hawaii.

Tubes are in

Sleepy Kynlie and daddy before sugery.
Kynlie survived her surgery today. So did mommy and daddy! We were scheduled to be there at 7:15 this morning so we left last night after Neil got off work. We had to drop a pickup off in Bowman and pick a Neil's up, so we had to switch Kynlie's car seat out. We kept her awake until Bowman, then when we were switching her seat from pickup to pickup, she got hysterical and puked all over herself and Neil's pickup- again. I had just got her carseat all washed and put back together from her vomiting episodes last Thursday! We got her seat put in and I sat in back with her to try and keep her calm and not puking. I thought I'd feed her her pediasure so she could just go to sleep and be done with it. Well, she ate all 8 oz of pediasure, then puked it all up. She had all of us covered in puke, it was not pretty. Luckily this time I had packed extra jammies and blankies for her. She finally calmed down and then was fine the rest of the trip. The little stinker stayed awake all the way until Belfield dancing, waving her hands in the air, clapping and singing, then slept the last 20 miles to Dickinson.  Maybe our next trip will be vomit free!

We were up early this morning and didn't even get Kynlie dressed before we headed to the hospital. They got us all checked in and took us back to the day surgery room. The anesthesiologist, nurse anesthetist, OR nurse and doctor all came in and talked to us and had us get Kynlie into her hospital gown- that was WAY too big for her! She was very interested in her bracelet and played with it the whole time we were getting her ready. We took her new bunny that her cousin Madison built for her at Build A Bear for her surgery so she had something to cuddle with.

Neil went back with Kynlie when they took her to the OR as they like to have a parent hold the baby until they are out. We decide he would go back when they put her out so I could nurse her when she was coming out of anesthesia. No more than 5 minutes later, he was back . We sat in the room they had us in for about 7 minutes, then went to the waiting room to wait for the doctor to come talk to us. It was less than 10 minutes from when Neil got back to when the doctor came and talked to us, he said that the surgery went perfect but that they didn't give Kynlie the Tylenol suppository that they had said they were going to. He said he thought she looked a little jaundice and that Tylenol interferes with the liver function so he didn't want to give her any.

We asked if he would order a blood draw to see what her liver function looked like and talk to Dr. Ocejo about it. He took me back to recovery and she was screaming and flailing around like a fish out of water. I took her and started nursing her and she was instantly quiet. We were in recovery just long enough for her to eat, then they took us back to the room that we got her ready in. She wimpered for a while, then cuddled with Neil. The nurse gave us some pudding to feed her and they continued to monitor her O2 and temperature. Lab came and drew blood and they continued to monitor until the blood results came back. Her liver function looked good, but her BUN (Blood Urea Nitrogen) was high. He faxed the results to Dr. Ocejo and sent us home. We have to put drops in Kynlie's ears two times a day for 10 days and go back for a follow up in 2 weeks. It worked out perfect because 2 weeks is on Feb 9 and I had called yesterday and scheduled Kynlie's eye appointment on Feb 10, so we have her follow up the afternoon of the 9th, then will go on to Bismarck.

Just as we got into Wibaux on the way home, Dr. Ocejo's nurse called and said that he had looked at all her bloodwork and that there was nothing he was concerned about.

Kynlie slept the whole way home, but woke up her goofy self when we were home. She hasn't acted like her ears are bothering her at all and we haven't gave her any Motrin since we left the hospital. She napped a little this afternoon and is crawling around singing and dancing right now!

And the verdict is

We had quite the adventure last night and today. I had taken off from Marmarth around 5:50, headed to Bowman to play volleyball. Thankfully I slowed down to 45 mph going through Rhame, I sped up going out of town and spun out and ended up backwards in the ditch on the wrong side of the road. Some kind women stopped and picked me up and took me to one of their houses to call Neil, who I was hoping to catch before he left headed to Bowman to pick me up. I got a hold of him and he went and got a tow rope and him and Kynlie were on their way to find me. Thankfully, nothing happened to me or the pickup, which was a blessing as I was about a foot away from side swiping a road sign. I hung out at the bar with the ladies that picked me up until we thought Neil would be getting close, then we sat on an approach and waited for him. He got me pulled out and we were on our way.
Kynlie had got so upset with us getting in and out of the pickup that she projectile vomited all over herself and the pickup, so I took her out of her clothes and put her in her jammies. Since we were only staying one night and she has been doing good not puking, I only packed the one pair of jammies for her- big mistake. She drank all of her pediasure, then puked it all up, all over her jammies and blankets. Needless to say, we had a very stinky ride to Dickinson, Bismarck and back!
She had an appointment with the ENT in Dickinson and after hearing her ear infection history, 4 in the last 6 months,  thought that tubes were the way to go. We have surgery scheduled for Tuesday! He asked us a bunch of questions about her development,  if she was walking or talking yet and we said no. He went over to his computer and typed a bunch of stuff, then said he wanted us to see an audiologist because he thought she may have some hearing problems and speech delays.
We went to the audiologist and he ran 3 tests on Kynlie's ears. For one of them, he put a device in each ear, one ear at a time and checked the ear drum, the next test they put a device in her ear, again, one at a time and sent different noises into her ear and the device checked whether her ear was sending signals back. The third test he did, he had Neil take Kynlie into a sound proof room and had him sit between two speakers and two tv screens. The Dr. would talk or send noises into one speaker and if Kynlie looked the direction of the speaker, a little cartoon showed up on the tv screen. She passed all 3 tests with flying colors. I was thinking as we were walking out of the audiologist's office that the ENT was not adjusting her age and for 15 months, she is speech delayed, but she is only 11 months- adjusted and is right on track.
After we got her surgery scheduled, we headed to Bismarck. We got to town, ate drive through lunch, got our Target shopping done and went to Kynlie's appointment. She weighed 17 lbs and was 28 1/2" long, which is the 25 and 75 percentile respectively. Dr. Ocejo was more than pleased with her weight gain and told us to keep doing whatever we were doing. He doesn't want us to push her too much to eating solids because he said she needs to keep gaining weight and getting caught up, eating solids will come with time. We do feed her whatever we are eating but she'll spit a lot out and what she does eat, she chews on forever. He said she is getting her molars in, which would explain the buckets of drool that have been running out of her mouth. I talked to him about her constipation and he suggested putting a mild laxative in her juice in the morning every day to keep her regular. He also looked at her hemangioma, which is quickly getting smaller, but it has had some funny spots in it lately, little red bumps, and yellowish wart looking things. He said they are ulcers and wants us to put a salve on it 3-4 times a day to keep it soft as it dries up. He said if we don't, it will scab and fall off- as scabs do- but it will bleed uncontrollably since it is just blood vessels and could be a bad deal! I told him about her appointment with the ENT and he agreed with the tubes verdict 100 percent. He said 4 in a year is too many infections. He explained it in a little more detail than the actual ENT did, which is just how Dr. Ocejo is and part of the reason I continue to drive to Bismarck for Kynlie's appointments. He also said that she is not delayed in any ways as far as speech or hearing. He made me a little nervous when he was looking at Kynlie's eyes, he kept shining his light back and forth to her eyes, then asked how long it had been since we had seen Dr. L. He said he noticed she was a little cross eyed but said that he thinks that it is just Pseudostrabismus. Which is caused by her immature nose and folds of skin by her eyes, which is what Dr. L said last time we saw him too. He did suggest we see Dr. L a little sooner than Dr. L had said so I'll call on Monday and see if we can get her appointment set up.
Other than that, we made it home with NO vehicles in the ditch on our part, one vomit incident today, which just added to the putrid smell already in my pickup, and a happy mom and dad, hearing that Kynlie is doing so well.
Back to Dickinson on Tuesday for surgery:(

Not much going on.

There just has not been anything going on to post about lately. Kynlie did have her first sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa Moore's house on Saturday because we went out for a friend's 40th birthday party. They said she was good and I think all 3 of them had a great time.
I didn't have Pyper on Monday due to MLK day so I thought it would be a great time to run some errands, you know like going to the bank, post office and grocery store, not so much! I did get the groceries bought, but we had to go to he bank and post office today.
We are trying to start Kynlie on whole milk because just nursing is not giving her enough fluid intake. She refuses to drink any of the breast milk I have frozen, I don't know if it tastes funny or if she is just realizing she doesn't have to drink it from a sippie cup if she doesn't want to. She's not too keen on the whole milk yet, but I'll just keep trying. She's got to start drinking more because we keep battling constipation, I'll get her unplugged, then she'll not drink much for a couple days and the battle starts over again.
We are headed to Dickinson on Thursday as Kynlie has her appointment with the ENT on Friday morning. I will go to Bowman to play volleyball- I'm playing on a league team with some women from Baker- Neil will feed Kynlie supper, then they will come over and watch our second game and we will head out. I think the timing will be pretty good because we should leave Bowman right at Kynlie's bedtime so hopefully (fingers crossed) she'll sleep the whole way! After her appointment with the ENT, we will go to Bismarck for her follow up with Dr. Ocejo on her weight gain. We have a little shopping to do, then will head home.
Saturday we are having a bridal shower in the morning for one of my great friends- the wedding that we are going to Hawaii for in February, then her bachelorette party will be that evening. It should be a great time!
I sure can write a lot about doing nothing! Below is a funny video of Neil pulling Kynlie around on her pony Topper. She loves riding her pony- until he bucks her off on her teapot. Notice my little
"Ohhh" squeal at the end of the video!

Kynlie loves talking on the phone

I was laying on the floor beside the glider and she climbed right up there and was trying to get to the keyboard

More Funny Faces

I have got quite a few of Kynlie's funny faces captured on the camera lately. She is such a goofball, she has an evil little fake giggle that she does when she's trying to be funny. She now waves bye bye all the time too. She knows to do it when someone says bye bye or hi, but she also just does it whenever she's being goofy.

We haven't been doing anything around here, it's been too cold outside to even leave the house. Neil and I did take down some of the outside Christmas decorations on Sunday, but we still have the ones on the roof left and everything that was on the lawn was froze down.
Mad face- but mom, I want to chew on that book.

"ne ne ne ne ne" Kynlie's new favorite word

I was going through all Kynlie's clothes, getting them sorted into sizes and remembered this 3-6 month outfit she had got as a shower gift. She had never got to wear it because it got cold before she grew into it. I thought- what the heck I'll put it on her- over her 12 month shirt she was wearing, and it fit!! As I was looking through her 3-6 month shorts, I thought I might as well try them on her and if they fit, she can wear them in Hawaii the end of February and they did! Guess we won't need to get her new summer clothes for the trip!

Please say a prayer for my sister- who ruptured her achilles tendon playing basketball last Sunday. She will have surgery to repair it next Monday. It'll be a struggle for her being immobile as she is a very active person, who exercises daily, and taking care of her boys.

Please also pray for my sister-in-law, who injured her ankle on Saturday at the in-law's cabin. She has some soft tissue damage and may need surgery, we haven't heard yet.

Happy 2011

We had an amazing New Year's weekend, except for the fact that we didn't get to spend it with Kynlie. It was the first time since we brought her home that I spent a night without her. We went to Cooke City, MT with some good friends to go snowmobiling for the weekend. Kynlie stayed with my parents.
We left Thursday afternoon and drove to Cooke, riding snowmobile the last 10 miles to town. It was frigid cold, I don't think it got above zero degrees most of the weekend. We had a little scare on the way to Cooke City, the snowmobile trailer slid on the ice and made the pickup spin out, luckily the guard rail was covered in snow and we just slowly bounced off it and were back on our way, no damage done to anything!

Neil and Shawn have rode in Cooke City quite a bit, but for LaCinda and I, it was a whole new ball game. When you get in the powder snow, you have pretty much no control over your  snowmobile, and have to use the weight of your body to turn. Sometimes it took me what seemed like miles to turn around! I tried to steer clear of areas with trees because I could just see myself headed straight into one completely out of control! No trees, or snowmobiles were injured in the trip. LaCina had a little scare and drove off a 30 or so foot snow cliff into a hole. Luckily, the snow was soft underneath and her sled just stopped, she went over the handlebars, through the windshield and onto the snow, but just had some bumps and bruises. I was following her and luckily was far enough behind to notice that she had disappeared and didn't drive off the cliff landing right on top of her.

LaCinda was too sore to go out riding on Saturday so it was just me and the guys. They took me a couple of places that I may have said a cuss word or two as I was trying to maneuver the snowmobile down and around trees, but I surprised myself and did rather well, not hitting any trees or driving my snowmobile off any cliffs!

It was very intimidating, feeling completely out of control and not being able to see some obstacles in the snow, such as 30 foot drop offs, but it was a blast and I definitely want to go again- if the guys will take me!

Kynlie did great while we were away, I was worried how she would sleep because she doesn't sleep well in hotels and I usually end up nursing her most of the night, but mom & dad said she slept all night without a problem. She did have a little meltdown on New Year's Eve that prevented them from going to a gathering, but they didn't seem too upset about missing it.

We got up and left Cooke City by 8 am on Sunday and made it home about 5:30 last night. The roads and weather were not good at all. It was so great to get to see Kynlie again- she didn't know what to do when she saw me and she just smiled and gave her great fake laugh. She would look at me and say "ha" then she would do it again. She was very goofy when we got home and was so excited to see her daddy that she didn't want to settle down and go to sleep.

Here is a picture and video my mom took when we were gone, neither are very clear, but the video was of my dad making Sterling circle on his hind legs for treats and Kynlie thought it was pretty funny and the picture is of her in her Happy New Year shirt- just like the one she wore last year.

Happy New Year 2011
