Getting Ready

 Besides packing bags and bags for our trip to Hawaii next week, we have been getting ready in other ways too.

There is only one other person I wish I could've spent all of today with and right now, he is upstairs cooking a seafood extravaganza.

Little Pirate

We attempted the first day of patching Kynlie's eyes today and I learned that it's hard to keep a babies' hands busy for 20 minutes. We made it about 10 minutes today, but hopefully, the more we patch her, she'll get used to it and leave it on.

She is wearing a camo patch too because the clinic didn't have any girls' patches in XS. They did give us a bigger size to try too to see what works best on her that is a girls' pattern.

Everything was good but the roads

Wednesday morning, Kynlie and I took off to Dickinson for her follow up appointment with the ENT. I got her fitted for ear plugs and a band to keep them in for our trip to Hawaii. I wanted to get it done so we didn't have to worry about getting any water in her ears when we are swimming. The ENT said that her tubes look great and that we need to go back again in 6 months to check if they are still in.

We went on to Bismarck after Kynlie's appointment for her appointment on Thursday. We ran to Old Navy and I found some shirts and a skirt for Hawaii and got Kynlie some long sleeve onesies, which came in handy on Thursday as she had puked on both of the onesies I had packed. We stayed with my aunt and cousins, which is where all these pictures were taken. My cousin Shelby is taking some graphic design/ photography classes in college and was playing with her camera while we were there.

We did a little shopping on Thursday, at lunch with Teresa and Seth and went to Kynlie's eye appointment. Dr. L came in first and looked at her eyes, he said that her left eye is definetly turned in, but he was going to have Dr. Samson look at her because he is the one that would deal with that. They dilated her eyes and Dr. Samson came and got us. He had her follow lights with each eye, then checked her sight. I was wondering how they would see if a baby that can't even talk needs glasses and it is actually very interesting. They have a special light that refracts off the retina and they have different strength of  lenses that when they cover the eye with the lense and shine the light in, they can see when the light refracts back at 20/20 vision, which is what Kynlie has! As of now, she has perfect vision and will not need glasses. When I called Neil after her appointment, he was shocked. I guess we had both just accepted that as bad as Kynlie's ROP was before her surgery that she would be one of those little kids that was wearing those cute little glasses.  

Dr. Samson did say that Kynlie's left eye does turn in, but that she does not use her right eye more because of it, which is great. He also said that usually then babies are cross eyed, they are far sighted, which she is not. He wants us to patch her eyes for 20 minutes every day so her eyes get stronger and hopefully she won't be cross eyed anymore. We will do her right eye on even number days and her left eye on odd number days. We have to go back and see Dr. Samson again in 3 months to see how she is coming along.

After her appointment with Dr. Samson, we saw Dr. Litchfield again. He checked her ROP and said that her eyes look structurally perfect. He doesn't want to see her again for one year.

After her appointment we headed home. The roads were fine until we got out of Mandan, then it was a different story. We had solid ice roads all the way home. The fastest I drove the whold 215 miles was 60 mph, but it was usually more like 45.  There were at least 6 vehicles in the ditch between Bismarck and Dickinson.

Neil called and told me that he heard they closed the highway between Wibaux and Baker, which I later found out was emergency travel only, but I decided we would try the road south out of Belfield to Bowman. That road was the best of the whole trip. We stopped in Bowman because I had volleyball and the girls said they were going to brave the roads and come play. I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to play because I had Kynlie with and didn't know what I was going to do with her. There was a young boy there that came over and played with her so I could play, which was really nice. 

We are just hanging out this weekend. Neil and Matt went snowmobiling in Cooke City again so it'll just be Kynlie and I. If it is nice on Sunday, I think I'll take her out and pull her around in her sled that she got for Christmas.

Wrestling

Since nothing has been going on around here to post, here is a video of Neil and Kynlie wrestling while we were watching the movie The Wrestler tonight.

We did have a great weekend at the stock show in Rapid City last weekend. We celebrated our 6th anniversary on Saturday, eating at the Red Lobster (Neil proposed in the parking lot there- he's romantic like that!) Got to see Jen and Joe, they went to supper and the rodeo with us. Kynlie LOVED the rodeo, the fireworks during the national anthem, all the music and action. She danced, squealed, clapped and waved her hands in the air most of the rodeo, it was the cutest thing ever! She was also a great little traveler again with only one little puke on the way from supper to the Civic Center.

First roomates, friends forever



They have grown since last time they saw each other in May
and this is off the wall, but those socks still fit Kynlie!

 Tomorrow Kynlie and I are headed to Dickinson for her follow up appointment with the Ear, nose and throat specialist in the afternoon, then on to Bismarck for her eye appointment that Dr. Ocejo suggested. I am hoping we get done early enough with her appointment in Bismarck that I can make it home to drop Kynlie off somewhere and head back to Bowman to play in the tournament for our league volleyball.
